Our story

MyNativeForest began with a simple question: how can we make growing native forests a financially viable choice for more New Zealanders? Native forests provide enormous benefits to our environment, biodiversity and future generations. But establishing and protecting them takes time, money and long-term commitment. Too often, the people who own and care for the land are left carrying those costs.

We started by exploring how carbon markets and private investment could help fund native tree planting. Along the way, we discovered that some of the biggest opportunities were already growing on people's land. Existing native forests and regenerating vegetation could generate meaningful income through carbon markets, often without the substantial cost of establishing a new forest.

Today, MyNativeForest is a native forestry and carbon services company working with landowners across Aotearoa. We bring together forestry expertise, technology and carbon market knowledge to identify opportunities, assess land eligibility, manage forest registration and ongoing obligations, and help landowners sell their carbon credits.

Our approach focuses on two things: making it easier and more affordable for landowners to access carbon markets, and helping them achieve greater value from the carbon their forests capture. Sometimes that means registering an existing forest. Other times it means improving regenerating land, establishing new native planting or connecting high-quality forest carbon credits with buyers who recognise their wider environmental value.

By making native forestry more commercially rewarding, we're helping create the conditions for more land to be restored, more native forests to thrive and more landowners to benefit. Our purpose hasn't changed since day one. We believe the best way to restore native forests at scale is to make them valuable to the people responsible for their future. When landowners, businesses and nature all benefit, restoration becomes something we can sustain for generations.
