Monthly native tree planting subscriptions
At My Native Forest, our focus is singular: regenerating New Zealand's native forests. We’re committed to planting and protecting the native species that are integral to our country’s natural heritage.
Our commitment doesn’t end when the trees are in the ground. We ensure long-term support for forest growth and maintenance, securing the future of the forests you help create.
Transparency is key. Our app allows you to see exactly how your funds are being used, from planting to ongoing care, so you can trust that every dollar is making an impact.
Our plans are simple and action-oriented. You commit to funding trees in line with the average carbon footprint of a Kiwi. We have done the numbers on how many trees help sequester the equivalent amount of carbon, but more importantly, your money goes directly into tree planting.
60% of the cost goes directly into tree planting, focusing on the core mission of regenerating native forests.
20% is allocated to biodiversity support, ensuring the long-term health and sustainability of the ecosystem.
20% represents My Native Forest’s profit, which helps fund operational activities and ensures the continuity of our organisation.
Our plans are based on the most recent data available from Stats NZ's 2021 report on consumption emissions (using 2019 as the baseline).
This data simplifies household carbon footprints into four main categories: food, transport, housing and household energy use, and shopping.
Overall household consumption emissions in 2019 totaled 42.89 million tonnes of CO2-e, which breaks down to roughly 8.5 tonnes of CO2-e per capita.
To account for variations in personal consumption and ensure adequate carbon mitigation, we’ve added an additional 500kg to this baseline, making our starting point for calculations 9 tonnes per person.

All carbon credits earned from your trees will be verified native forest New Zealand Units (NZUs) that are registered in the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) under the Permanent Post 1989 (PP89) classification. If you choose to fund an entire forest project, we can provide options on voluntary carbon schemes.
We hold insurance for forest replacement, but ultimately, if in the worst case scenario the trees do not survive, you will not earn carbon credits as they will not exist. We have strict parameters when choosing partners to plant with based on the location, past planting success and the forest management plan/capabilities.
No, currently we can only work with whole units as the registry (NZETR) your carbon is held on does not account for fractional carbon units.
No, our trees are registered in the NZ ETS, this is one of the world’s most reputable and leading carbon programs. You only earn carbon credits from the trees once they are planted in our projects which happens during Winter/Spring each year.
Tree planting happens between August and October each year. When they are planted, you will be able to trace them to the project and follow them through project updates.
